About Us
Meet Dr. Oppermann
In 1997, Dr. Ralph Oppermann graduated from the University of Detroit Mercy School of Dentistry. He was honored to be able to return home to Grayling, MI, where he grew up.
His wife, Cari, is also a local native and is our office manager. They have two daughters, Megan and Nicole. The family enjoys skiing, biking, boating, and fishing.
Went to Ferris State University for his undergraduate education. When he completed dental school, he worked for the Indian Health services for 6 years in Sault St. Marie for the Sioux tribe before returning to Grayling to open the practice in 2003
Became a fellow in the Academy of General Dentistry in 2007
Became a fellow in the Academy of Dentistry International in 2015
Meet Dr. Malicowski
Dr. Jennifer Malicowski is a graduate from the University of Michigan School of Dentistry. She also received her undergraduate education from the University of Michigan where she earned her Bachelor of Science. She is originally from the small town of New Lothrop, Mi.
Her husband, Aaron, grew up in Reese, Mi. They have two dogs, Moose and Finley. They enjoy spending free time with their family and friends, hiking with their dogs and anything that can get them enjoying the outdoors.

Hello, I’m the office manager here at AuSable Family Dental, P.C., and I’ve been here since the day the practice opened in June 2003.
I enjoy working with our dental team and helping our patients achieve and maintain their dental health.
When I’m not at the office, I’m usually chauffeuring our two daughters, trying to be active outdoors, and enjoying some skiing or biking with family and friends.
Melissa
I graduated from Northwestern Michigan College in 2009 with an associate’s degree in dental assisting. Soon after, I began working at AuSable Family Dental, P.C. as a registered dental assistant.
I have been living in Grayling for the past three years with my dog, Montana.
Karen
My name is Karen and I have been a dental assistant for 24 years, 14 years of which has been with AuSable Family Dental, P.C. In my spare time, I like to camp, hike, crochet/knit, and do scenic photography. I am married, have two sons, and three grandchildren.
Anita
Hi, I’m Anita. I'm a dental hygienist here at AuSable Family Dental, P.C. I graduated from Delta College in 2009 and have been here since 2020.
Prior to dental hygiene, I was a Registered Dental Assistant. My husband Tracey and I moved to Lovells, MI in December of 2020 from our hometown of Clio, MI.
I have always had a deep passion for northern Michigan. The seasons are perfect for the outdoor activities like hiking, kayaking, paddle boarding, snowshoeing, and cross country skiing that we love to do. I am also a rock hound!
Lila
Hola ! My name is Lila and I’ve been at the front desk at AFD since 2016. My husband and I have 3 daughters, 1 dog and 1 cat. Outside of the office I enjoy eating and game nights with family and friends.
Patty
Hi! My name is Patty. I’ve been working at Ausable Family Dental since February of 2016 as a receptionist. My husband, Monty and I have lived in Grayling all of our lives. We have two sons, Michael and Nicholas, their wives Arica and Megan and our 5 grandchildren- Lexi, Cali, Mylei, Easton and Ryder. I enjoy camping, boating and spending time with my family.
Shonda
I have been a dental assistant since 1999. I became certified with the Dental Assisting National Board in 2009.
I am proud to say I’ve been a part of the AuSable Family Dental, P.C. family since 2010.
My greatest achievement is my daughter, Skylar, who graduated from MSU in the spring of 2016.
Outside of my career in dental assisting, I am also a wedding and concert photographer.
